Knowing the will of Olódùmarè has never been a simple formula. Long before organized religion, people understood that divine direction is not shouted, it is felt, recognized, and aligned with. The will of the Source is not hidden; it reveals itself when the inner life is quiet, honest, and prepared.
The first doorway is stillness and communion. What Christianity later called prayer was, in its original form, a conversation not begging, not rehearsed words, but honest communication between the human spirit and the Divine Breath (Ẹ̀mí). When a person slows down, speaks truthfully, and listens inwardly, guidance begins to surface. Not as noise, but as clarity.
Another doorway is recorded wisdom. What many call scripture is not magic text; it is memory preserved. Stories, teachings, and experiences passed down to guide future generations. When read with discernment not fear these writings reveal patterns: justice, compassion, humility, responsibility, and balance. The value is not in blind obedience, but in understanding the spirit behind the words.
Guidance also comes through elders and wise counsel. In African knowing, no one walks alone. Wisdom is communal. The voice of someone who has walked the road before you can help you see what pride, fear, or emotion may be hiding. Olódùmarè often speaks through people, not thunder.
Then there is inner witness what many traditions recognize as conscience, intuition, or sacred prompting. In Ifá, this is the movement of Àṣẹ when one is aligned. In Yesuah’s teaching, it is the inner guide that leads into truth. When the heart is clear, this inner voice becomes steady and trustworthy.
Lastly, life itself speaks. Circumstances are not random. Doors opening and closing, repeated patterns, resistance, ease these are signals. Not every open door should be rushed through, but nothing happens without meaning. Discernment is learning how to read life without panic.
Knowing the will of Olódùmarè is not about perfection. It is about alignment aligning heart, action, intention, and destiny. When that alignment is present, guidance stops being confusing. Life begins to flow.
Aṣẹ.
